  1. yes patience! It also ended up giving me the revel and york hangar which I thought was weird but I'm ok with it! I like the little IRL benefits of going with the Taurus, but I think I'll part with 10 more dollars to get the Freelancer pledge (for the Hornet) and keep the Herald for it's LTI potential I'm just not sure about LTIs potential, that's the real question. If you can CCU the herald to get LTI on a much more valuable ship in the future then I think it's worth picking one up, other than that LTIs mostly a convenience and a thank you for buying a concept. Well just have to see how important it becomes
  2. Wow, I've been been thrown a curve ball with the Herald LTI offering. In my situation what would you guys do? I've recently changed my Freelancer DUR package in for a Cutlass Black and Herald LTI. I've read all about the LTI philosophy and wanted to potentially have the ability to CCU the herald perhaps back into the DUR, not sure if that will really be the case. But I can either keep my current set up with that hope, or just melt into the Taurus for the same price. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Side note, I only get the 300i trainer in AC but I really would prefer the hornet for obvious reasons... Is there an optimal pledge + Indy ship combo that would work for $200?
  3. My obsession needs nutrients, I've read through all the galactic guides, but that only serves to make me want the PU more. I've read through a few of the jump points, but that just makes me want more ships I can't afford. Ask a developer forum? Yup read all the most interesting ones. We've hit a little lull from the Citizen Con reveal, and we see this reflected in the funding goals. How are they going to keep this insatiable monster at bay? Any word on the comm link release schedule!?
  4. In that price range you'd be best with the 315p, and maybe stepping up to the hornet next month. In my experience, the 315p is more of a jack of all trades with the variants available, but you can't use the 325 fighter variant yet in AC so upgrading to that is kind of useless now if you want to get your feet wet in AC. For dogfighting, the hornet is your best choice but the 315 will get you by in a pinch
  5. I think CR vision for the game is absolutely wonderful. With that said I think there's one of his rules that isn't exactly realistic. Rule #3 in his aforementioned forum post states that there would be "NO unfair advantage to people with either too much money or too much time to play the game " I could make the argument "then why pledge if there's no advantage?" And the community would respond "it's for the funding" which I completely agree with. We all want to see this equate to the best damn GAME of all time. But it makes me wonder "Why play the game at all?" The developers all make a point of immersion and continuity of the game, making it as true to future space life as possible within the confines and logic of making a digital world, and what is more true to life than advantage/disadvantage. It boils down to a battle of semantics. What is winning? If an aurora miner finds the score they were looking for and fends off a couple pirates in the process, that's winning. If a 890 jump pilot over throws the government of a system by transporting a group of high level officials through contested space for the chance of running the economy there, that's winning. One of the things I loved and hated about EvE is that disadvantage is built in, it's even guaranteed. Which makes accomplishing something worth while. My main concern is that I want there to be risk and reward in PU. Advantage and disadvantage. I want the PTW argument to change into talking about how will the development team give our actions on the verse meaningful ramifications, and not take away our ability (big pledge or small pledge) to influence the game P.s. I realize he uses the modifier "unfair" with regards to advantage, so that's the debate. What's unfair? I know they are doing everything the can to make the game as enjoyable and awesome as they can for everyone And since I said "why play the game at all?" Please don't come back with "then don't play". That's not a very helpful argument. I'm talking about the philosophy behind their game model and simply raising these ideas to thought and discussion. I'm going to play this game a whole lot I reckon
  6. I'm at a crossroads too, just melted my way up to the DUR and I feel happy here. Going to have a great ship at the start, I can play AC with the loaner til then, and I've invested more than the average pledger to help ensure the game lives up to at least part of the lofty expectations. RSI is going to milk the ship buyers for all they can, wouldn't you? But I'd like to see more ships that would get 40 to 60 dollar pledgers up to around 100. They're not doing that yet with the amazingly expensive limited ships they're releasing (jump, reclaimer). It would be in their best interest to not exhaust their backers too early, we've still a long way to go!
  7. I know I might get hissed at for raising some of these questions but let's give it a go. I'll start with the good things... Cutlass Variants: great to see the red and blue. They seem to be locked into a cops and robbers theme here with the "pirate" variant, police/bounty variant, and a ship to clean up the mess. This has seriously given me a headache trying to decide whether I go with a freelancer DUR, or cutlass blue. Different purposes, but what do I want more. The trailer was great, but rolled my eyes a little when the cutlass pilot showed her bravado with the "hoisting the bird" gesture. Seemed to break with future space culture lore IMO but it happened so, I'll get over it. CRs unending resolve and his immersion in the project: the mere fact that the level of transparency in this project is unprecedented, and they seem to have such great and dedicated teams at their disposal gives me so much hope for this game, and makes me want to spend more...that was probably the point The 890 jump is damn impressive: The size, the opulence, the shields and weapons. Proves once again their dedication to other gameplay styles besides exploration/salvage/combat/research. They keep adding the prospect of these new and relatively unexplored variations of space faring gameplay I can't wait to see how important these will be in the PU They have been working hard on the concept of PU They landed their Connie, a couple guys came out to presumably unload the cargo, and made their way through the checkpoint and I marveled at the level of detail in that place. The ships zooming by overhead, the textures and lighting, and that cool rotating metallic ball thingy. Things I would like to see/know How difficult is it going to be to get a 890 jump in the PU? For a ship of this nature I would venture a guess at VERY HARD. And that's the whole point of the thing yes, but I feel a little alienated. CR has stated the importance of "pay for the toys, or earn the toys" mechanic, it also sounds like pay to win to me. I say this because of the value mechanic that their setting up. You can either spend 200 hours earning a jump, or you can buy one. Who's to say the people with jumps and massive fleets won't try and make it really damn hard for those trying to earn their way up, guess I'm glad to get started with a great ORG from the get go. I'm lucky enough that my SC contribution can be as high as $200, but I can't really fork over $600 for a luxury yacht. The cutlass is a step in the right direction and I'm happy to be able to get a head start AT ALL in he PU, but I think they'd capture the hearts and wallets of more people by giving us more $60 to $100 ships. True they're going to sell all the jumps. But I'd rather invest in more varied fleet for less monies. We're two years away from the full game, thus is true. There was no interactivity in that small concept save for the checkpoint officer, and the dumpers depot guy said a few things as well. They didn't buy anything or learn about a shady trade deal going down in the alley way. I know this will come, I just wanted to see more like I know we all do. Will landing be manual? Will you have to navigate an orbital descent? Once again, this was a concept of PU demo and I loved what I saw, except for shaky arm glitch man We've got a long road ahead, and I love how informed they're keeping us. For me personally I need to take a step back and not hit overdrive on the hypemobile. Just as they need to balance development and what they show and give us, I need to balance my expectations. This project is unprecedented, and so is my expectation for it. Anyways, what did you think?
  8. http://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/2iwjc0/spoiler_alert_cutlass_variants_in_the_sdk/ Looks like someone with cry engine was able to render the cutlass models!

    Freelancer

I have a hornet pledge atm, I didn't know that you'd get a trainer hornet with the DUR other wise I might've just gone with the freelancer, good to know. Thought you needed to buy the ship to pilot in AC. Am I understanding this correctly?
  10. I'm trying to be conservative, but balance that with what I see myself, and IMP, wanting to accomplish when it drops. I'd love to start off guns blazing some vanduul with my hornet, but the prospects of exploration are so great I think I'll pick up the DUR to fulfill that. In addition, I just have a gut feeling this is going to dominate my gaming if not completely devour it, so I want to give CIG the ammo to really make a whopper

I think it's been stated in the developer forums that black market health care is planned, maybe not organ harvesting, but pirates need bandages too, and if the UEE is hot on their tails, they'll need to seek it elsewhere
